Question 1 - What are the guidelines for obtaining a GIS service ?

The use of GIS services is restricted to the organizations of Indian Government at various levels right from Central, State/UT, District & Sub-District.

Question 2 - My organization have permission to access the GIS service, Can I use the same service ?

No. A separate request have to placed in mapservice.gov.in.

Question 3 - How long the GIS service can be used ?

At the time of submitting request, proper duration need to select from the box. Normally, validity of the service is 1 , 2, 6, 12 and 24 months.

Question 4 - What is the difference for a GIS service between Staging server and production server ?

For Staging server, the token is generated on the IP where the application will be deployed. Similarly for the production server, the token is generated on the domain of the web site.

Question 5 - How many times I can apply to get a particular service for Staging server ?

User can apply to get a particular service for Staging server for two times subsequently . If that service is required beyond that, authorization letter need to submit .

Question 6 - what is the url pattern for staging application and deployment application ?

url pattern for staging application is http://10.1.43.6/appl1 and for the deployment application is https://domainname .

Question 7 - What is the validity of GIS service hosted in Staging server ?

The validity of GIS service hosted in Staging server is for 1 or 2 months.

Question 8 - What is the validity of GIS service used in application in deployment server ?

The validity of GIS service used in application in deployment server is 6,12 or 24 months .

Question 9 - when do I need to submit Authorization and forwarding letter ?

The Authorization and forwarding letter required for the application deployment in the deployment server .

Question 10 - Who has to sign the Authorization Letter ?

The head of the organization need to sign the Authorization Letter .

Question 11 - Who has to sign the forwarding letter ?

Joint Secretary or equivalent rank and above, GOI (refer Table 1) in official letter head need to sign the forwarding letter .

Question 12 - Where do I send my Authorization Letter & forwarding letter ?

Both the Authorization Letter & forwarding letter need to submit to State Informatics Officer, NIC of the respective state . For the ministry, Both letters need to send directly to The Deputy Director General, Remote Sensing & GIS Division, National Informatics Centre (NIC) , Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology ,A-Block, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road ,New Delhi - 110 003

Question 13 - How do I change the ministry coordinator email id , if not correct ?

You need to send mail to rsgis@nic.in .

Question 14 - How do I change the State coordinator details , if not correct ?

You need to send mail to rsgis@nic.in .
